The Supermarket
Making a trip to the supermarket both bearable and fun!
Thinking of taking your child to the supermarket may bring to mind images of squabbles in the toy aisle and tantrums at the tills, but it can, in fact, be a simple way of teaching them about the world , without even realising you are doing it!
Find out how your trip to the supermarket, and the little things you do along the way, helps your little one learn and grow. We’re here to help you keep smashing it!

It CAN be fun…we promise!
It’s a job that has to be done but for your little one it’s a whole new world of colours, smells and lots and lots of things to touch. Which is exciting but also can be overwhelming!

Their little grin and wave can brighten up your day.
When your little one is in the trolley giving a cheeky smile, chatting and waving at everyone they see in the shop, those interactions with others and you are just priceless.

When your going ‘out out’ becomes a trip to the supermarket.
Your outing might not be fit for the ‘gram but you need to celebrate the win!

Teaching without realising!
You might not think much of it, but saying what you need to buy from the shop out loud, “apples, bread, milk, cheese,” you are teaching your little ones new words! Nobody thinks your strange for talking out loud to your baby, we promise.

In, out, in, out…no we’re not singing the Hokey Cokey!
We are talking about your little ones putting things in the trolley and you taking them out! Deep breaths, we know it can be frustrating. Try and #Seethefun

What you thought it would be like vs reality! (sometimes)
You made sure they’d had a nap and were fed, they sat and giggled in the trolley, then they changed their mind and wanted to escape and cried the rest of the time.

Our friendly Community Connectors can chat to you all about your baby or toddler and signpost to support, activities or groups to help you and your family.

Another craving has hit and you need another dopamine rush of looking at tiny baby socks.
You and bump are off to the shops again, and it’s a perfect time to bond.

It’s you and me baby…and a supermarket full of people, yikes!
The new-born offers of people bringing you shopping have dried up, it’s time to brave it on your own. We get it, it’s scary. But you’ve got this.
